Reading Comprehension Reading Comprehension Students are required to lead a class and ask comprehension questions during/after class readings. Comprehension	Below the Standard Student did not complete assignment and/or did not answer more than half of the questions correctly.	Approaching the Standard Student answered at least half of the questions correctly.	Meets the Standard Student answered most of the questions correctly. Student comprehends main idea of the reading.	Exceeds the Standard Student answered all (100%) questions correctly. Student fully demonstrates comprehension of the reading.
Discussion	Below the Standard Student did not ask any comprehension questions while reading the text.	Approaching the Standard Student asked very few comprehension questions while reading the text.	Meets the Standard Student asked some comprehension questions while reading the text.	Exceeds the Standard Student asked at least one comprehension question per paragraph while reading the text.
Language usage	Below the Standard Student frequently brought the discussion back to Spanish for explanations.	Approaching the Standard Student sometimes brought the discussion back to Spanish for explanations but attempted to keep the discussion in English.	Meets the Standard Student kept the discussion in English for explanations and employed the vocabulary list in the text.	Exceeds the Standard Student kept the discussion entirely in English for explanations, employed the vocabulary list in the text and used new vocabulary.
