Exceptional - IV and DV correctly identified. - Hypothesis correctly follows the format: "If___affects____, then______because _____" - Hypothesis is very logical and based on background info - Hypothesis very clearly answers question, and the reasons for the prediction are obvious	Accomplished - IV and DV correctly identified. - Hypothesis follows the format: "If___affects____, then______" - Hypothesis predicts what will happen in an experiment and answers the question - hypothesis makes sense	Sufficient - IV and DV correctly identified but wording might be slightly confusing - Hypothesis follows the format: "If___affects____, then______" - Hypothesis predicts what will happen in an experiment and answers the question, but needs to be more specific	Developing IV and DV incorrect or very confusing - Hypothesis is incomplete or does not use the proper format: "If___affects____, then______" - student tries to make a prediction, but it is too vague or does not answer question	Inadequate - hypothesis attempted, but... - IV and DV are incorrect and/or - hypothesis does not even attempt to use proper format. and/or - Hypothesis makes no sense	Minimal Hypothesis incomplete, blank, or very little effort or understanding shown.
