Student does not use instep of foot when dribbling and has littl to no control over the soccer ball.
Developing
May use one foot to dribble, very little control over the ball, attention may be elsewhere other than the soccer ball.
Meets Standard
Uses both feet to dribble, keeps ball 1-2 feet in front of feet, focuses on ball.
Exceeds Standard
Taps soccer ball lightly below center, uses both feet, keeps arms free for balance, keeps ball 1-2 feet in front of feet, maintans focus on ball with awareness of the entire situation, uses inside or outside of foot, or toe.

Focus eyes on the ball and keep arms free at sides for balance, ; pass using the outside of the foot; and point the toes of the kicking foot straight down for a pass using the instep of the foot, follow through in the direction of the pass for a push pass and low drive.
Exceeds Standard
Focus eyes on the ball, keep arms free at sides for balance, contact the ball at the center for a push pass on the ground contact the ball below the center for a low drive pass in the air, & pass using the inside of the foot; follow through in the direction of the pass for a push pass and low drive.
Recieving
Beginner
Student does not stop the ball.
Developing
Contacts ball to stop motion while standing still and while moving 50% of the time.
Meets Standard
Stops the ball with control most of the time.
Exceeds Standard
Proficient at stopping the ball, one touch stop, very controlled
Shooting
Beginner
Aim skill has not yet been mastered, student has no success with shooting the soccer ball into a desired goal.
Developing
Instep is not used majority of the time, soccer ball will ocassionally reach target and student will only use dominant kicking foot.
Meets Standard
Contact the ball at the center with the instep, the non-kicking foot beside the ball in preparation for the kick.
Exceeds Standard
Focus eyes on the ball and keep arms free at sides for balance, contact the ball at the center with the instep, place the non-kicking foot besides the ball in preparation for the kick, kick with either foot, follow through in the direction of the kick
