Arms

Needs Improvement
Needs improvement: an effort is being made to use the arms, however, they are poorly placed, or not supported by the back. More work and focus on the arms is required.

arms are in correct positions, but are not coordinating with the movement or helping the overall execution as they should.
Good
arms are well placed and coordinated with the rest of the movement. Everything is correct and improving well.
Excellent/Exceeds Expectaions
exceeds expectations. Arms are well placed and coordinated and the student is putting her own style into the movement.
Knowledge of Choreography
Poor
student does not have any idea of the choreography and can barely demonstrate the steps.
Needs Improvement
student has some idea of the steps but when demonstrating is still missing more than half of the steps.
On level
student almost has the choreography but is still missing one or two steps when demonstrating the combination.
Good
Student demonstrates a clear knowledge of the choreography.
Excellent/Exceeds Expectaions

Feet
Poor

Needs Improvement
student points her feet less than half of the time throughout the choreography and is still careless in her placement of the feet.
On level
student points her feet and places them carefully most of the time during the choreography.
Good
the student demonstrates an awareness of her feet pointing as they leave the floor and is almost always careful in her placement of the feet.
Excellent/Exceeds Expectaions
student habitually points her feet when they leave the floor and is careful in her placement throughout the choreography.
Musicality
Poor
student is dancing over the music and is never aware of the beat or tempo. Her movements are erratically timed.
Needs Improvement
student is keeping an inconsistent beat and is not on the music.
On level
student is either keeping good time, but not the right time, or can correct herself when she falls off the music.
Good
the student is on the music the whole time.
Excellent/Exceeds Expectaions
Exceeds expectations: the student not only keeps time with the music but is able to put in her own phrasing.
Style
Poor

Needs Improvement

Good
student is able to convey a sense of her own interpretation of the music through her dancing.
Excellent/Exceeds Expectaions
Student immerses herself into the steps and or the music with a great deal of energy and focus.
Body Placement
Poor

Needs Improvement
More than half of the time the body is poorly placed
On level
