Proposal Rubric Proposal Rubric Students will research an aspect of their school, town, or government that they would like to see improved or reformed. Thoroughness 4 pts	Superior Each component is addressed thoroughly in the proposal. Statistics, data, and specific details are clear and support the proposal.	Excellent Each component is treated somewhat thoroughly in the proposal. Statistics, data, and details are used, but they may not specifically support the proposal.	Good Only some components are treated somewhat thoroughly in the proposal. Some statistics, data, or details are missing and detract from the proposal.	Fair to Poor Components are treated somewhat weakly in the proposal. The proposal is not backed by sound statistics, data, or details.
Clarity 2 pts	Superior Entire proposal written very clearly (establishes and maintains clear focus and has evidence of distinctive voice).	Excellent Portions of proposal written very clearly (establishes and maintains clear focus and has evidence of distinctive voice).	Good Proposal written somewhat clearly (establishes clear focus at points and has some evidence of distinctive voice).	Fair to Poor Proposal lacking in clarity (focus wavers at points and/or voice falters).
Grammar and Mechanics 2 pts	Superior Every time writer uses a sentence, phrase or idea from another, the source is clearly identified. Cites correctly. Free from errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar.	Excellent Only cites some of the time when borrowing a sentence, phrase or idea from another; or citations are only partially correct. One or two minor errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar.	Good Does not cite sources or cites incorrectly. Three to five errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar.	Fair to Poor Does not cite at all. Enough errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar to be distracting to readers.
