Knowledge of choreography	Poor Remembers a few of the steps/ movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others.	Fair Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes some errors	Good Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Few errors.	Excellent Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography. and does it well.
Oral Presentation	Poor Student does not participate or share any information about the culture, type of dance, or history.	Fair Student looks to others for answers on what to share about culture, type of dance or history, and is able to say a few words.	Good Student starts to share and and shows some understanding, but occasionally looks at script for guidance.	Excellent Student is able to present material without any assistance and shows good understanding of the content matter.
Performance Skills	Poor The dancer is not very focused, concentrated or committed to performance.	Fair The dancer is generally focused, but only some attempt made to communicate with others on stage or audience.	Good The dancer communicates with other dancers and audience through eye contact and facial and body expression.	Excellent The dancer creates a believable character on stage and is able to engage the audience completely through their performance.
Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity	Poor Student pokes fun at culture or other students in the class from that culture.	Fair Student makes unintentional comments that are insensitive.	Good Student takes assignment seriously and shows cultural awareness.	Excellent Student makes no insensitive comments, takes assignment seriously, shows cultural awareness, and shows appreciation for culture and students.
