Ideal A

Borders continuous, molded to a form that will be in harmony with the physiological action of the limiting anatomical structures.
Anatomical Landmarks clearly present, must be carried out in sections ( using compound).

Rounded, perfectly resembles copy depth of vestibule.

Posterior palatal resembles butterfly configuration (match those pictures in lecture #6).
Acceptable B

Minor variations or discrepancies from the ideal criteria.
Modifications C

Border molding is adequate to make a clinically acceptable complete denture ,but marginally so.

Border continuity below ideal criteria.
Think or thin not in harmony with the physiological action of the limiting structures.
Clinically unacceptable

Border molding prevents clinically acceptable complete denture treatment.

Inadequate border to thick , or to thin, no continuous molding, rough, overextended, debris not clean.
Final impression

Ideal A

very well extended and contour to follow the depth of vestibules,
correct thickness of the material over the fitting surface of the tray, material supported by the tray on critical areas, No voids no bubbles /no showing trough the impression material.
Acceptable B

Minor variations or discrepancies from the ideal criteria.
Modifications C

Maxillary final impression is adequate to make a clinically acceptable complete denture ,but marginally so.
Vestibule present ,but insufficient depth causes a future loss of contour to denture flanges.
Voids are present on not critical landmark areas. Minor showing trough areas.
Clinically unacceptable

Final impression prevents clinically acceptable complete denture treatment.

Inaccurate final impression, voids bubbles. Tray or compound shows through the impression material.
Mandibular Final Impression
Border molding

Ideal A

Borders continuous, molded to a form that will be in harmony with the physiological action of the limiting anatomical structures.
Must be carried out in sections ( using compound)

Continuous, rounded, perfectly copy deep of vestibule
Acceptable B

Minor variations or discrepancies from the ideal criteria
Modifications C

Border molding is adequate to make a clinically acceptable complete denture ,but marginally so.

Border continuity below ideal criteria, think or thin not in harmony with the physiological action of the limiting structures.
Clinically unacceptable

Border molding prevents clinically acceptable complete denture treatment.

Inadequate border too thick,or too thin. No continuous molding.Rough, overextended. Debris or not clean.
Final impression

Ideal A

Very well extended and contour to follow the depth of vestibules.
Correct thickness of the material over the fitting surface of the tray. Material supported by the tray on critical areas.
"S" curve present on the lingual flanges.
No voids no bubbles /no showing trough the impression material or compound
Acceptable B

Minor variations or discrepancies from the ideal criteria
Modifications C

Mandibular final impression is adequate to make a clinically acceptable complete denture ,but marginally so.
Vestibule present ,but insufficient depth causes a future loss of contour to denture flanges.
"S" curve not present. Voids are on areas that are not critical or minor areas shows through the impression material.
Clinically unacceptable

Final impression prevents clinically acceptable complete denture treatment.

Inaccurate final impression, voids bubbles. Tray or compound shows through the impression material.
