Poor
Student uses no new vocabulary learned throughout the year and speech is broken up, lots of errors were made and there is lack of preparation.
Fair
Student has integrated new vocabulary but still shows a lack of preparation, fewer mistakes were made but student shows a lack of extensive preparation.

Student's accent is good and use of new vocabulary is abundant. Student shows that they were prepared, 3-4 mistakes were made.
Excellent
Student speaks fluidly with minimal mistakes made and integrates new vocabulary.
Grammar - speaking
Poor
Student does not use correct grammar that has been learned throughout the semester, instead speech is very informal and does not make sense.
Fair
Student attempted to use correct grammar in speaking but made many mistakes and limited their sentence length.
Good
Student has a variety of simple and detailed sentences, grammar use is for the most part correct.
Excellent
Student has a variety of simple and detailed sentences. The main goal when presenting was trying to make themselves understood, minimal grammatical errors were made.
Vocabulary - writing
Poor
Student uses only minimal language from the beginning of the school year and does not attempt to create sentences with more information and vocabulary.
Fair
Student attempts 5-10 newer vocabulary words but for the most part uses very simple entry level vocabulary.
Good
Student uses a good variety of vocabulary learned throughout the class. A few words were misused but student showed a clear effort.
Excellent
Student makes a clear effort to include class vocabulary in each sentence and tries to expand their comfort level with word choice.
Grammar - writing
Poor
Student makes lots of mistakes or shows a clear lack of effort with sentences that do not make sense.
Fair
Student has a good use of present tense however, accents and word order are commonly misused and in the wrong order.
Good
Student employs present tense verbs mostly correct and their is evidence of self-editing and careful construction.
Excellent
Present tense verbs and word order are correct with minimal mistakes made and there is evidence of thoughtful construction and editing.
