Project Guidlelines	Below Standard Student completed one or fewer poems.	Approaching the Standard Student completed only two poems.	Meets the Standard Student has completed three haiku poems. Most poems contain the correct number of syllables and subject matter.	Exceeds the Standard Student has completed more than four haiku poems. All poems contain the correct number of syllables and subject matter.
Spelling	Below Standard Student has more than five spelling errors.	Approaching the Standard Student has four to five spelling errors.	Meets the Standard Student has two to three spelling errors.	Exceeds the Standard Student has one or fewer spelling errors.
Content	Below Standard Haikus are difficult to understand and lack thought and creativity.	Approaching the Standard Haikus show little creativity and are not related to nature.	Meets the Standard Haikus are somewhat creative and may or may not relate to nature.	Exceeds the Standard Haikus are very creative and are related to nature.
