Setting	Below Average The student does not know where the story took place.	Average The student can say 1 of the places the story takes place in.	Above Average The student can say all of the places the story took place in.
Characters	Below Average The student does not know any of the characters in the story.	Average The student can give at least less than half characters in the story.	Above Average The student can give over half or all of the characters in the story.
Problem	Below Average The student does not know the problem in the story.	Average The student is vague on what the problem is in the story or knows less than half of the problems in the story.	Above Average The student states the problem or knows more than half of the problems in the story.
Resolution	Below Average The student does not know the resolution of the problem in the story.	Average The student is vague on the resolution of the problem or knows less than half of the resolutions of the problems in the story.	Above Average The student states the resolution of the problem or knows more than half of the resolutions of the problems in the story.
Main Idea	Below Average The student does not know the main idea of the story.	Average The student is vague on the main idea of the story.	Above Average The student states the main idea of the story clearly.
