What Repeats Based on the Picture of the Book? This rubric will evaluate if the students are able to pick recognize the main idea of a book by taking a picture walk or observing pictures of a book. Gathering Facts 1 % This rubric will evaluate if the students are able to pick recognize the main idea of a book by taking a picture walk or observing pictures of a book.
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Advanced 4 pts
Drew picture to describe fact 1 pts	Poor Drew a picture of a completely different animal/topic of the nonfiction book.	Fair Drew pictures of smaller details of the book but not the main idea.	Good Drew picture of the main topic of the book.	Advanced Drew pictures that represented smaller subtopics of the book and very clearly drew the main idea.
Creative pictures 1 pts	Poor No color or looks as if it was drawn by parents. No details.	Fair Some color and looks as if it was not drawn by parents. Some detail.	Good Fairly realistic colors and acceptional detail.	Advanced Very realistic colors with intricate details.
Attempted to label facts 1 pts	Poor No labels or letters on any of the facts. Or no letters and labels that do not connect with the topic of the book.	Fair Some attempt to letters and labels that are a close enough depiction to the topic of the book.	Good Labels or letters on the picture of the man idea that correctly indicate the main idea.	Advanced Attempt to write sentences of what the main idea is.
Neat and organized 1 pts	Poor Only one fact drawings are numbered and drawings are all over the place.	Fair All fact drawings are numbered but are all over the page or the fact drawings are in four clear seperate spots but not numbered.	Good All drawings are numbered with a somewhat separation between drawings or a clear separation between drawings with 3 out of 4 drawings numbered.	Advanced All drawings are clearly separated from eachother and properly numbered.
Dictation 1 pts	Poor There is no dictation(for homework) or student speaks about completely different topic.	Fair There is only a word as a dictation that has to do with the main topic.	Good A dictation that uses the language we used in class "From observing the pictures I found out the main idea is..." and accurately stating the main topic. This format does not need to be exact but along these lines.	Advanced Very advanced language used in the dictation stating multiple sentences about the main idea and maybe even some key details.
