Contrasting points	Excellent - 4 There are (3) three clear contrasting examples between the topics/concepts.	Good - 3 There are (2) two clear contrasting examples between the topics/concepts.	Fair - 2 There is (1) one clear contrasting example between the topics/concepts.	Poor - 1 Student has not provided any contrasting examples between the topics/concepts.
Essay Structure	Excellent - 4 Student has included an introduction, three clear body paragraphs, and a conclusion in the essay. There is cohesion in the essay and all the points make sense. There are no (or very few) grammar mistakes, and they do not take away from the overall essay.	Good - 3 Essay reflects an introduction, two body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesion is mostly present throughout the essay. There are some grammar mistakes, but they do not take away from the overall essay.	Fair - 2 There are 2 paragraphs: one that compares and one that contrasts. There are some grammar mistakes, but they do not take away from the overall essay.	Poor - 1 There isn't any real form or format to this essay. Grammar is poor and makes the essay difficult to understand.
