Wrestling Skills Assessment

Safety	Poor Seldom follows safety rules. Poor warm-up, forgets to remove all jewelery and glasses. Nails are not trimmed.	Fair Usually follows safety rules. Adequate warm-up, removes all jewelery and glasses. Nails are usually short trimmed.	Good Follows safety rules. Good warm-up, removes all jewelery and glasses, Nails are short trimmed.	Excellent Always follows safety rules. Extensive warm-up, removes all jewelery and glasses.Nails are always short trimmed.
Leg Take Down	Poor Leads with his head not with his arms, does not bend his knees while driving towards partners legs.	Fair Leading with arms, legs are bent while leading towards the partners legs. Drives through and finishes takedown but ends up on side.	Good Legs are bent while and changes levels of his body as he leans toward partners legs, leading with both arms.	Excellent Finishes takedown in proper position with belly down and control over opponent.
Wrestling Stance	Poor Student knees aren't bent and back is not align with shoulder. Arms are not bent 90 degrees	Fair Knees are bent back is semi straight and align with shoulder. Arms are bent 45 degrees	Good Knees are bent, back and shoulder are align. Arms are at 90 degrees.	Excellent Knees are bent, back and shoulder are align. Arms are at 90 degrees and knows the difference between a square and stagger stance.
Hand Fight	Poor Has problems controlling opponent and can't gain control of wrists for collar ties.	Fair Can control wrists or collar temporarily.	Good Controls wrist and collar ties, but is not able to move opponent consistently.	Excellent Controls wrist and collar ties and moves opponent consistently.
Game play	Poor Seldom follows the rules of the game. Rarely uses speed and strategy to gain advantage.	Fair Usually follows the rules of the game. Sometimes uses speed and strategy to gain advantage.	Good Follows the rules of the game. Uses speed and strategy to gain advantage.	Excellent Always follows the rules of the game. Often uses speed and strategy to gain advantage.
Takedowns	Poor Uses few appropriate takedown techniques and performs takedowns with limited execution of skills learned.	Fair Uses some appropriate takedown techniques and performs takedowns with partial execution of skills learned.	Good Uses a variety of appropriate takedown techniques and performs takedowns with competent execution of skills learned.	Excellent Uses a wide variety of appropriate takedown techniques and performs takedowns with exceptional execution of skills learned.
Groundwork	Poor Rarely applies appropriate moves to expose opponent's back to the mat. Seldom defends against being pinned.	Fair Sometimes applies appropriate moves to expose opponent's back to the mat. Sometimes defends against being pinned.	Good Applies appropriate moves to expose opponent's back to the mat. Defends well against being pinned.	Excellent Always applies appropriate moves to expose opponent's back to the mat. Always defends effectively against being pinned.
Fair Play/Respect	Poor Rarely respectful of others efforts and feelings. Rarely performs all moves with caution and consideration of others safety.
