Introduction and Conclusion Interview should include an opening and a conclusion. This may be in the form of the beginning of a TV program or otherwise.	Excellent The interview had a strong opening and concluding question/answer that captured the audience and made it easy for them to follow. There was a greeting and a closing.	Good The interview had an opening and concluding question/answer that captured the audience. There was a greeting and a closing.	Fair The interview did not necessarily have an introduction or conclusion OR the order of questioning was not logical.	Poor There was no logical opening, closing, or flow to the interview.
Questions 10 questions to help the audience understand the character, setting, and main idea of the book.	Excellent The student asked 10 meaningful and interesting questions related to main events in the book or character traits.	Good The student asked 10 questions of the character regarding the main idea, setting, and character traits.	Fair The student asked 8-9 questions related to the main idea, setting, and character traits.	Poor The student asked less than 8 questions related to the main idea, setting, and character traits.
Answers	Excellent Answers demonstrate a deep understanding of the character, main idea, and setting.	Good Most questions were answered and demonstrated an understanding of the character, main idea, and setting.	Fair Some questions were answered and demonstrated some understanding of the character, main idea, and setting.	Poor Does not respond to the questions and shows little understanding of the character, main idea, or setting.
Interview Performance	Excellent Students spoke loudly and clearly and maintained their characters throughout the interview.	Good Students usually spoke loudly and clearly and mostly maintained their characters throughout the interview.	Fair Students maintained their characters throughout the interview but were sometimes difficult to hear.	Poor Students had difficulty maintaining their characters and were difficult to hear throughout
