KG -1 Writing Rubric
	Mastery 4 pts	Developing 3 pts	Emerging 2 pts	Needs Improvement 1 pts
Writing Name	Mastery The student can legibly print his/her first name legibly in correct upper and lower case lettering.	Developing The student can print his/her first name legibly but not the last name in correct upper and some lower case lettering	Emerging The student can print his/her first name in all capital lettering.	Needs Improvement The student can not write his first name yet.
Picture Content	Mastery The student can draw a recognizable picture of himself/herself and the detail and color of the picture is excellent. (eyes, ears, hair, etc.)	Developing The student can draw a picture of himself/herself and the detail of the drawing is good. (some features such as eyes, ears, hair are recognizable, but details are not clear)	Emerging The student can draw a picture of himself/herself but includes little detail and parts of the body. (some parts of the body are recognizable)	Needs Improvement The student only draws a circle with two sticks for arms or less detail.
Writing Letters	Mastery The student can write familiar upper and some lowercase lettering of the alphabet.	Developing The student can write uppercase lettering of the alphabet.	Emerging The student can write some of the letters of the alphabet in uppercase.	Needs Improvement The student is learning to recognize the letters of the alphabet.
