Clarity	Poor Answers were unclear and difficult for instructor to understand.	Fair Answers were unclear and difficult for instructor to understand at times.	Good Answers were unclear and at times but were easy to undertsand.	Excellent Questions and answers were clear and very easy to understand.
Pronunciation	Poor Student made regular mistakes in pronunciation, making large parts of the speaking very difficult to understand.	Fair Student's pronunciation made understanding difficult, but it was understandable most of the time.	Good Student's pronunciation was understandable with just a few large mistakes.	Excellent Student's pronunciation was almost like a native speaker.
Fluency	Poor Student was unable to respond to questions and express their ideas.	Fair Student took a long time to respond to questions, and had a lot of difficulty expressing himself or herself.	Good Students was able to answer the questions with easily, and with few problems.	Excellent Students was able to express ideas and respond to questions with no real problems.
Vocabulary	Poor Student used no target vocabulary.	Fair Student used very little target vocabulary, and when he or she did use it, it was used incorrectly.	Good The student used enough target vocabulary and made very few mistakes.	Excellent The student used target vocabulary often and accurately, making almost no mistakes.
Content	Poor Did not use coursework content to support answers. Didn't understand the content.	Fair Used very little coursework content to support answers.	Good Gave strong answers related to content of the course.	Excellent Gave extremely strong answers related to content of the course, along with examples and elaboration.
Grammatical accuracy	Poor Student made regular mistakes in tense, subject verb agreement, word order, article, and preposition use.	Fair Student made several large grammar mistakes, but had other moments of strong accuracy.	Good Student made a few grammar mistakes, but most of the time displayed strong accuracy.	Excellent Student made very few grammar mistakes and showed a strong command of grammar in general.
