Stance	Did Not Do	Beginner Student stands with feet together	Developing Student stands with feet staggered but the wrong foot is forward.	Proficient Student stands with feet shoulder width apart feet slightly staggered. Right foot forward
Preparation	Did Not Do	Beginner Student is unsure of what to do. They are standing with racket down to the side and not ready. They swing with a one hand backswing. they are facing the net just swing with no idea of where the target is	Developing Student has some awareness of how to stand when doing the backhand. They are square to the net and Knees not bent standing straight up They do not step to target	Proficient Student does two handed grip. Racket back to the fence Knees bent Turn to side of the net Step towards target
Execution	Did Not Do	Beginner Student has a hard time contacting the ball. They do not step with opposte foot. The swing goes up Eyes are not on the ball at all Misses the ball most of the time	Developing Student steps with same side foot The swing is up to the sky so the ball goes straight up Swings and misses the ball Makes contact in front of their body Eyes are not level with ball	Proficient Student steps forward with oppopsite foot Swing parallel to court Reach forward to hit Make contact at their side.
