Rate	Satisfactory Student reads slower than normal speech. Many pauses.	Proficient Student reads text either too quickly or with uncomfortable pauses. Many words are sounded out.	Excelling Student reads text with smooth, conversational, comfortable rate.	Totals
Accuracy	Satisfactory Student makes numerous errors or asks for help. Errors are not self-corrected.	Proficient Students makes some errors that do not affect meaning . Other errors are few. Some miscues are self-corrected.	Excelling Student makes zero errors. All miscues are self-corrected.	Totals
Phrasing	Satisfactory No evidence of phrasing. Student reads word-by-word or sounds out the majority of words.	Proficient Student reads in 2-3 word phrases.	Excelling Student reads longer phrases smoothly. The student varies the length of phrases appropriately for impact.	Totals
