Listening	Initial / Emergent Demonstrates comprehension of 0-1 elements and/or key concepts of the audiofile with contextual support.	Consolidating Demonstrates comprehension of some elements and key concepts of the audiofile with contextual support.	Competent Demonstrates comprehension of most /all elements and key concepts of the audiofile with contextual support.	Acquiring fluency / Fluent Demonstrates comprehension of all elements and key concepts of the audiofile without extensive contextual support.
Writing	Initial / Emergent Poor grammar with many errors. Sentence structure, punctuation, and thought process not organized or coherent. Unable to stay on topic.	Consolidating Satisfactory grammar, but with some errors in sentence structure and/or punctuation; thought process is poorly organized and is sometimes not coherent. Stays on topic some of the time.	Competent Good grammar with few errors in sentence structure, punctuation; thought process is well organized and coherent. Stays on topic. Simple or obvious answers.	Acquiring fluency / Fluent Excellent grammar with rare errors in sentence structure, punctuation; thought process is highly organized and coherent. Stays on topic. A variety of sentences openers, paragraphs, quotes, echoed vocabulary, and high level connectives used.
Comprehension	Initial / Emergent Cannot explain the general idea of what has been heard. Unable to use proper sentence structure or follow chronological sequence.	Consolidating Can explain the general idea of what has been heard. Able to use proper sentence structure or sometimes follows chronological sequence. Some detail used.	Competent Can explain in summary format that which has been heard, and answer response questions satisfactorily. Uses detail, some key words and sentence structure following in chronological sequence.	Acquiring fluency / Fluent Can explain in summary format that which has been heard, and answer response questions. uses inference and deductive reasoning.
