Developing The writing piece follows a natural progression of the storyline and what could have been in a realistic manner, however is flat in creativity and description.	Needs Work The writing piece does not follows a natural progression of the storyline, however it is realistic and displays some creativity.	Poor The writing piece makes no sense, has nothing to do with the original plot and/or is unrealistic.
Major characters	Superior The writing uses accurate use of the major characters from the work that the student read.	Good	Developing The writer alludes to characters from the work but does not name them in their work.	Needs Work	Poor The alternate ending does not contain actual characters from the work the student read.
Grammar & Mechanics	Superior There are no errors in grammar, sentence structure, punctuation or spelling.	Good There are a few errors in grammar, sentence structure, punctuation or spelling.
