Making Predictions Rubric
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Prediction Making	Poor Student does not make or show evidence that he or she is able to make predictions about a story.	Fair Students occasionally makes predictions about the story.	Good Student is able to make and give several predictions about the story most of the time.	Excellent Students is able to make educational predictions about the story and uses information to back up his or her claim.
Uses support and textual evidence	Poor The student does not use textual evidence to support his or her prediction.	Fair The students occasionally uses textual evidence to support his or her claim, but needs help doing so.	Good The student uses textual evidence most of the time, but needs more support in order to back up the claim.	Excellent The students uses textual evidence to back up his or her claim and uses the text to support his or her thoughts on the prediction.
Making connections	Poor The students has a hard time making connections between the text and the outside world.	Fair The students occasionally can make connections, but still has a hard time and needs further help processing his or her thoughts.	Good The students is able to make good and thoughtful connections between the story and the outside world to make a prediction.	Excellent The student is able to make through connections between the text and the outside world in order to make an educated prediction.
