	No Functional Skill Needs improvement 3 pts	Novice Proficient use of ASL 1 skills. 7 pts	Novice Plus Mastery of ASL 1 skills. 10 pts
ASL Grammar Non-Manual Signals	No Functional Skill Inappropriate display of NMS. Uses English mouthing while signing. Lacks headnods to confirm and headshakes to negate the comments. Lacks use of raised EB to show topic of each sentence.	Novice Mostly uses appropriate NMS as necessary with minimal English mouthing. Mostly headnods to confirm and headshakes to negate comments. Mostly remembers to raise EB for each topic of the sentence.	Novice Plus Uses appropriate NMS as necessary without the use of English mouthing. Headnods to confirm and headshakes to negate comments. EB are raised to indicate topic of each sentence.
ASL Syntax Word Order	No Functional Skill Mostly uses English word order while signing.	Novice 1/2 English word order and 1/2 ASL word order.	Novice Plus Uses ASL word order appropriately while signing.
