Evaluation of the fundemental skill of passing a football. Students are rated and scored on the mechanics of their passing, this is the primary emphasis and accuracy is the secondary emphasis. There are 15 points possible.

Uses both hands, can not hang on to ball with one hand.

Hangs on with one hand, but needs to choke up on the ball to gain more control of ball.

Uses three fingers on top, thumb on underside. Able to keep control of ball and successfully chokes up on the ball to keep control of the football.

Does not remember or attempt to get the arm back in the "L" or football up by the ear.

Gaining more consistency in getting the throwing arm back in the "L" position, and putting the ball up towards the ear.
Proficient

Stretches back and creates an "L" with the arm bent at 90°'s. The football is by the ear.

Does not remember or attempt to step forward with the completion of the throw.
Developing

Gaining more consistency on taking a small step forward.
Proficient

On completion of the throw, takes one small step forward.
Follow through

Needs Improvement

Does not attempt to follow through with the palm or thumb finishing down.
Ball does not spiral on throw.
Lacks distance.
Developing

Gaining a stronger attempt at follow through of the palm and thumb finishing down. Lacks distance and consistent spiral motion.
Proficient

Palm turns out, ball comes off the index finger, thumb finishes down. Ball moves in a spiral turn most of the attempted throw.
Accuracy

Needs Improvement

Does not hit the target. Out of 10 throws, the target is hit 4 or less times.
Developing

Hits the target successfully half of the time. Out of 10 throws, the target is hit at least 5 out of 10
Proficient

Hits the traget with all throws. Out of 10 throws, the target is hit at least 6 or more times.
