	Poor 0 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 6 pts
Characters	Poor If the students did not write down any characters or got them wrong they would receive a zero for this section.	Good If the characters listed at least 1 or 2 correct characters they would receive 3 points.	Excellent If the students wrote down all of the characters in the story correctly they would receive full credit. (Little Red Riding Hood, The big bad wolf, and the grandmother)
Setting	Poor The students failed to describe the setting for the story.	Good The students described the setting with less detail and might have only had one location instead of both.	Excellent The students clearly described the setting Little Red Riding Hood took place in. (The forest and the grandmother's house)
Punctuation	Poor The students did not use any punctuation. They had a lot of run on sentences.	Good The students made a couple of punctuation errors, but most of their explanations had correct punctuation.	Excellent The students had correct punctuation in their answers to the questions.
