	4 4 pts	3 3 pts	2 2 pts	1 1 pts
Counting	4 Independently counts with 1-1 correspondence.	3 Counts with 1-1 correspondence, but has slight confusion in organizing counters. May over or under count units.	2 Needs encouragement and help to organize counters/unit to use 1-1 correspondence. Needs direct supervision of teacher.	1 Did not count with 1-1 correspondence. Had difficulty recognizing individual units.
Symbol recognition	4 Independently recognizes, names, and writes symbols of addition problems: (+), (=)	3 Usually works independently, but needs some help identifying symbols.	2 Depends heavily on teacher to identify and name addition symbols.	1 Does not recognize symbol or corresponding vocabulary.
