The students have created a lead sheet that includes lyrics, chords, key (tonality), and form. This gives the listener/observer the clearest picture of the whole song.
Proficient
The lead sheet has complete lyrics, chords and form markers. A user might want to include his/her own notes to follow the song with accuracy.
Developing
The lead sheet has some level of all the lyrics, chords and form. The sheet may need to be refined to show the user exactly where the parts fit together.
Beginning
The lead sheet lacks complete lyrics, or a chord structure that follows the lyrics, or identifiable form markers.

The soloists demonstrates understanding of their material by following through the lead sheet. Solo melodies flow with ease and are enjoyable for the listener
Proficient
The soloists demonstrates some understanding of their material by following through the lead sheet. Solo melodies somewhat flow and are enjoyable for the listener

The soloists demonstrates little understanding of their material. The lead sheet is mostly ignored. Solo melodies are disjunct or difficult to hear. The listener has a hard time follow what the soloist is communicating
Beginning
The soloists demonstrates no understanding of their material and does not use the lead sheet. There is no discernible flow to solo and it is akward to listen to

Exemplary
All students perform the piece, with minimal mistakes & no stopping. There is a clear melody that includes all compositional elements. The form is very evident
Proficient
The melody is mostly clear & defined, repeated and changes at the repeat. Intro and coda are somewhat defined. The form is mostly very evident
Developing
The melody is difficult to delineate. Harmonization or counter melodies are difficult to discern. Intro and coda are awkward or ill conceived. Form is difficult to hear
Beginning
The melody lacks continuity, and doesn't change during the chorus. compositional elements are missing. The form is unclear
Collaboration
Exemplary
All students in the group participate in the explanation and/or performance, demonstrating mastery of the song and material involved.
Proficient
All students in the group participate in the performance, demonstrating the material with few errors or pauses to check the material.
Developing
Most of the students in the group participate in the performance, demonstrating a need to learn the material to better perform it for the class. Obvious individuals holding back
Beginning
Not all students in the group were active participants in the performing the song. Groups performs as individuals not "gelling" as a group.
