Student shows some understanding of what they have learned. For example, explaining in a very simplified manner how to locate conditional clauses.

Student was unable to demonstrate comprehension of real, unreal and mixed time conditionals.
Rhythm

Excellent

The beat is secure and the rhythms are mostly accurate. There are a few duration errors, but these do not detract from the overall performance.
Very Good

The beat is somewhat erratic. Some rhythms are accurate. Frequent or repeated duration errors. Rhythm problems occasionally detract from the overall performance.
Average

The beat is usually erratic and rhythms are seldom accurate, detracting significantly from the overall performance.
Poor

Ain't got no rhythm.
Tone Quality

Excellent

Tone is focused, clear, and centered through the normal singing range. Extremes in range sometimes cause tone to be less controlled. Tone quality does not detract from the performance.
Very Good

Tone is often focused, clear, and centered, but sometimes the tone is uncontrolled in the normal singing range. Extremes in range are usually uncontrolled. Occasionally the tone detracts from overall performance.
Average

The tone is often not focused, clear, or centered regardless of the range, significantly detracting from the overall performance.
Poor

Mumbles, shouts, sing inappropriately, or will not sing.
Expression and Style

Excellent

Typically performs with nuance and style that is indicated in the score or which is suggested by instructor or peer.
Very Good

Sometimes performs with nuance and style that is indicated in the score or which is suggested by instructor or peer.
Average

Rarely demonstrated expression and style. Just sings the notes.
Poor

Expression and style is comparable to a dead rodent.
Diction

Excellent

Student articulates the words somewhat clearly and the text can be understood most of the time.
Very Good

Student is sometimes articulating the words, but the text is often not discernable.
Average

Student rarely articulates the words and the text is not discernable.
Poor

No clue as to what the student is singing. Possibly singing in a different language.
Fillers

Excellent

Student had no fillers (ah, um, mm) or long pauses which distracted the listeners' comprehension.
Very Good

Student had a few fillers (2-4) during the presentation.
Average

Student had (5-7) fillers during the presentation.
Poor

Student had an excessive use of fillers (8+) which distracted the listeners' comprehension and speakers fluency.
