Response Quality 40 %	Advanced Responses are fully developed and strongly on-topic. Student includes personal opinions, thoughts and feelings in the response	Thorough Responses are well developed and remain on-topic for the most part.	Acceptable Responses are somewhat developed and remain on-topic some of the time.	Partial Responses are underdeveloped and do not remain on-topic.
Connections 20 %	Advanced Student attempts to make a connection to previous lessons or readings at least 3 out of 4 times.	Thorough Student attempts to make a connection to previous lessons or readings at least 2 out of 4 times.	Acceptable Student attempts to make a connection to previous lessons or readings at least 1 out of 4 times.	Partial Student makes no attempts to make a connection to previous lessons or readings.
Reflective Thinking 30 %	Advanced Student has made an excellent attempt to reflect on their learning.	Thorough Student has made a good attempt to reflect on their learning.	Acceptable Student has made some attempt to reflect on their learning.	Partial Student has made little or no attempt to reflect on their learning.
Mechanics 10 %	Advanced Student used proper grammar and spelling, and used rich vocabulary.	Thorough Student used proper grammar and spelling OR student used rich vocabulary and had a few spelling and/or grammar errors.	Acceptable Student had a few grammar and/or spelling mistakes.	Partial Student had many grammar and/or spelling mistakes.
