Characterization	Excellent The character(s) is/are clearly developed with descriptions of each character.	Good The character(s) is/are clearly developed with descriptions of each character, but sometimes does not make sense in the writing.	Fair The character(s) is/are somewhat developed, but sometimes does not make sense in the writing.	Needs Improvement The character(s) is/are barely developed.
Plot	Excellent Writing has at least one well defined problem/conflict, a climax and an engaging ending.	Good Writing has a problem/conflict, a climax, and an acceptable resolution.	Fair Writing has a problem and solution, but the problem never reaches a climax. Or the writing has a problem and a climax but it not fully developed.	Needs Improvement The problem and/or climax and/or resolution is not present.
Creativity	Excellent Writing includes useful dialogue and plently of details that give the reader images in their mind.	Good Writing includes dialogue and some details that give the reader images in their mind.	Fair Writing includes useless dialogue and very little details that give the reader images in their mind.	Needs Improvement Story is told with very little or no details that give the reader images in their mind.
Grammar/Mechanics	Excellent There are very little or no puctuation,spelling and/or grammar errors. The 1st draft and peer revisions are attached. Writng is typed or neatly written.	Good There are no more than 6 puctuation, spelling and/or grammar errors. 1st draft and peer revisions are attached. Writing is typed or neatly written.
