The rubric is designed for Special Diploma ESE students placed in Reading 9-12 and Lifeskills Reading. These students are currently functioning between a 1st and 3rd grade level.

Fair

The student consistently achieves minimum scores of 50% on tests.

2 pts

Good

The student is able to score passing scores of 70% or better.

3 pts

Fluency

The student will achieve a minimum of a 10% increase in their current fluency rate.

Poor

The student has failed to make adequate progress on achieving higher fluency rates.
Fair

The student has made moderate progress (5-7% increase) in achieving a higher fluency rate.
Good

The student has achieved a 7% (or better) fluency increase.
Vocabulary

The student will achieve a score of 70% or better on vocabulary tests.

Poor

The student has failed to make adequate progress in vocabulary development.
Fair

The student has achieved a minimum score of 50% on given vocabulary tests.
Good

The student has achieved consistent vocabulary scores of 70% or better.
Comprehension

When given a comprehension test on a selected text, the student will achieve a 70% rate of comprehension.

Poor

The student has failed to make adequate progress in their comprehension of texts.
Fair

The student has achieved minimum scores of 50% on comprehension products.
Good

The student is able to achieve a minimum score of 70% when given a selected text comprehension test.
