Part 1

Step 1: Plan your trip	Needs Improvement	Satisfactory	Excellent Student has chosen 5 cities to visit, as well as indicated their "home city". The cities are listed on their paper in the order that they plan to visit.
Step 2: Map out your trip.	Needs Improvement	Satisfactory	Excellent Map is included and the student has used a ruler to connect the cities in the order listed in step 1. Their trip begins and ends at the indicated "home state".
Step 3: Measure your trip.	Needs Improvement	Satisfactory	Excellent Students have used a ruler to measure the distance, in inches, between each pair of cities on their map. The distance is measured to the nearest quarter inch.
Step 4: Find the ratio	Needs Improvement	Satisfactory	Excellent Use the scale to write an appropriate ratio of the distance on the map to the actual distance.
