	Proficient: 3 (N/A)
Research	Proficient: 3 Research Graphic Organizer is complete, facts are correct, and student uses this research to aid in their writing and creative project. Student has a completed bibliography with the correct sources.
Informative Essay	Proficient: 3 The first sentence of the introduction is engaging. Essay is written in 5 completed paragraphs of 5 or more sentences each. There is an introduction and conclusion that go together. The middle paragraphs follow the introduction and are supported with details and facts. Each paragraph stays on topic and is focused Facts are cited and support student's information. Student has used graphics and headings
Mechanics	Proficient: 3 Spelling is mostly correct--only a few errors. Student uses grade level vocabulary and academic vocabulary that matches with the content. Student uses correct grammar, has complete sentences, including capitals and periods and NO run-on sentences.
Student Choice Project	Proficient: 3 Student completed project and followed directions for that project. The information given makes sense, is complete, and is neatly written or made.
Presentation	Proficient: 3 Student organized their information to present. Student spoke with confidence during presentation. Student could answer any questions about their presentation correctly.
