Literature Discussion Group Literature Discussion Group Students are reading novels in small groups. They are assigned a required amount of reading and a particular role prior to each discussion. Preparation	Does not meet criteria Student has not read any of the required text.	Needs improvememt Student has read 1/2 to 3/4 of required text.	Proficient Student has clearly read all of the required text.	Beyond proficiency Student has clearly read all of required text and shared some relevant reading that s/he did independently.
Role Completion	Does not meet criteria Student completed no parts of the page in the packet for the assigned role.	Needs improvememt Student completed some parts of the pages in the packet for the assigned role.	Proficient Student completed all parts of the page in the packet for the assigned role.	Beyond proficiency Student completed all parts of required assignment in complete well written thoughts. Showing support from text when applicable.
Participation	Does not meet criteria Student is not able to add to the discussion.	Needs improvememt Student is able to participate in most of the discussion.	Proficient Student is able to participate in entire discussion by answering peers' questions and making thoughtful comments.
