Nuts and Bolts	Excellent! Song choice is appropriate, original, and longer than 1 minute and 30 seconds.	Good N/A	Needs Improvement Song choice is either inappropriate, unoriginal, or shorter than 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Performance Technique	Excellent! Hand position is curved and student uses proper bounce in their playing position. Student uses traditional African rhythms to compliment their song choice.	Good Hand position is slightly flat or there is not enough bounce off the head of the drum. Student is close to traditional African rhythms.	Needs Improvement Hand position is incorrect. Student does not use traditional African rhythms.
Originality	Excellent! Student is creative in their accompaniment pattern. The drum part is entertaining and complimentary to the original song.	Good Student is semi-creative in their accompaniment pattern. The drum part is complimentary to the song, but lacks originality.	Needs Improvement Student is not creative in their accompaniment pattern. The drum part lacks originality and is repetitive.
Preparation/ Performance	Excellent! Student shows command of the song and their accompaniment and is able to give a flawless performance without stopping.	Good Student shows command of their song and accompaniment, but is unable to perform the piece in it's entirety without stopping 1-2 times.	Needs Improvement Student lacks command of the song and accompaniment. They are unable to perform their piece in its entirety without stopping multiple times.
