TAP DANCE PERFORMANCE DANCE PERFORMANCE (TAP) Each group will choreograph a 64 count tap routine. The group will also write out the music notes for the entire dance using the sheet paper given. This will be graded measure by measure. Rubric Code: JXXB777 By Alisond Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Dance Type: Presentation Grade Levels: 9-12

TAP DANCE PERFORMANCE
	Poor 10 pts	Fair 15 pts	Good 20 pts	Excellent 25 pts
Technical skills	Poor Although remembers some of dance, little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance.	Fair Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance.	Good Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet.	Excellent Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of tap dance style.
Knowledge of choreography	Poor Remembers a few of the steps/ movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others.	Fair Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes some errors.	Good Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Few errors.	Excellent Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography.
Written music notes	Poor The dancer was unable to write out the proper music notes and it does not match the dance choreography.	Fair The dancer was able to somewhat write out the music notes and some parts match the dance choreography.	Good The dancer was able to write out the music notes with a few mistakes. Most of the dance choreography matched the written out notes.	Excellent The dancer was able to write out the entire dance with less than 2 mistakes. The choreography matched the written out music notes.
Musicality	Poor The dancer is often behind the group and has poor musicality skills.	Fair The dancer is somewhat on the music or dancing with the group with several mistakes in the proper musicality.	Good The dancer strives to be on the correct music but makes a few mistakes.	Excellent The dancer has a clear understanding of proper tap dance musicality with no mistakes.
