Poetry Book Portfolio Students will utilize multimedia sources to create a portfolio/book of their written poetry from the Creative Writing Unit. Rubric Code: JX8745X By JCastaneda2016 Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: English Type: ePortfolio Grade Levels: K-5

Multimedia Poetry Book
	Does Not Meet Expectations 0 pts	Poor 1 pts	Satisfactory 2 pts	Exceeds Expectations 3 pts
Spelling and Grammar	Does Not Meet Expectations Student has excessive spelling and grammar errors averaging 3-5 errors per poem.	Poor Student has sufficient spelling and grammar errors averaging 2 errors per poem.	Satisfactory Student has minimal spelling and grammar errors averaging 1 or less errors per poem.	Exceeds Expectations Student has little to no spelling and grammar errors not exceeding 2-3 errors in the entire portfolio book.
Poetry	Does Not Meet Expectations Student does not include the outlined poems required for this portfolio project.	Poor Student includes a minimum of 3 poems outlined in this rubric.	Satisfactory Student includes a minimum of 5 poems in their portfolio book.	Exceeds Expectations Student includes all outlined required poems (see below): 1. Haiku, 2. Limerick, 3. Acrostic 4. Narrative 5. Rhyming 6. Freestyle 7. Student's Choice (In Order According to a Table of Contents)
Multimedia	Does Not Meet Expectations Student does not utilize technology to create their book.	Poor Student uses minimal technology to create their poetry portfolio. (i.e. types their poems but does not utilize clip art, Publisher, Prezi, etc, to illustrate their work)	Satisfactory Student utilizes a minimum of two technology based publishers such as Word, Publisher, Prezi, etc. to create an engaging and creative portfolio book.	Exceeds Expectations Student utilizes at least three technology based publishers to illustrate and create an engaging portfolio book of completed poetry works.
Word Choice	Does Not Meet Expectations Student does not vary vocabulary in their poetry.The same words are repeated throughout every poem. Language is very vague and confusing.	Poor Many of the words are still oddly arranged and there is some variation in word choice, but it is very limited.	Satisfactory Words are mostly unique with little repetition. Poems create a picture for the reader and the words flow in the poetry.	Exceeds Expectations Writer uses unique and very varied word choice. Words are consistently creating an image for the reader and are specific. Student writes with a clear intention and utilizes a thesaurus.
