WEEKLY CHORUS REPORT 
Every Friday I will evaluate you using the criteria below. If you feel that I have not done so fairly, or that I have made a mistake in this evaluation of you, please see me promptly for a discussion. Possible score of 100 points.

•Distractions are not easily deflected, but does try.

Sight Singing/Solfege

This is the best way to become a superior singer and musician.

•Can be considered an "Apprentice Demonstrator".

Diaphragmatic Breathing

This is essential for good singong.

•Shows obvious evidence of proper diaphragmatic breathing, and can actually teach the process.

•Knows how to breath diaphragmatically, and needs only occasional reminders.
AVERAGE

Appears to know how to breath diaphragmatically, but shows signs of inconsistent practice.
BELOW AVERAGE

Appears to still be breathing with small chest/shoulder breathing, and is struggling with the concept of deep belly breathing. •Please see me to correct this situation.
NOT GOOD

Seems to not care one way or the other, and shows no interest in learning how to breath diaphragmatically.
Singing Posture/Music Deportment

These are important Singer-Musician tools.

EXCELLENT

•Proper singing posture is one of the top three in the choir.
•Never needs a reminder.
•Holds music at the appropriate level while sitting and standing.

•Proper singing posture is one of the top ten in the choir.

•Proper singing posture is about average.
•Usually needs a reminder.
•Needs reminders to hold music at the appropriate level while sitting and standing.
BELOW AVERAGE

•Proper singing posture is frankly poor.
•Always needs a reminder.
•Rarely holds music at the appropriate level while sitting and standing.
NOT GOOD

•Proper singing posture is non existent.
•If correction is made, it is only for a moment, then reverts to poor.
•Your parent will be notified.
•You should not be in chorus.
Lets The Body Sing
10 %

This is an essential performance/rehearsal requirement.

EXCELLENT

•Intuitively understands how to move gently with the music while performing, even during rehearsals.
•Is a musical tree blowing in the wind.
ABOVE AVERAGE

•Is actually doing quite well allowing the body to move with the music, but sometimes needs reminders.
AVERAGE

•Is doing fine while trying to allow the body to sing, but still needs daily reminders.
BELOW AVERAGE

•Seems reluctant to let the body sing, or is inhibited in this regard. •Please see me to discuss this.
NOT GOOD

•Refuses to participate in this activity.
•Your parent will be notified.
•You should not be in chorus.
Folder, Pencil, Clicker
8 %

These are essential classroom lassroom Tools.

EXCELLENT

•Always has pencil in hand during rehearsals.
•Folder is always neat, and when not being used in a rehearsal, can be found on it's proper shelf.
•Clicker is properly cared for.
ABOVE AVERAGE

•Needs reminders about pencil in hand during rehearsals.
•Folder is usually neat, and when not being used in a rehearsal, can be found on it's proper shelf.

•Is presently behind with assignments.

This is not required, but will help you become more invested in chorus.
