Keyboarding Technique - For Instructor Use Only 
This rubric has been created to assess students ability to type using the correct keying method, hand position, eye focus, posture and effort. Lesson 5 in the College Keyboarding & Document Processing text book will be used for testing with a goal of 14 WPM with no more than 3 errors for 1 minute. Student will print out their Portfolio report to be submitted to their instructor. Student is to follow good posture technique.

Student keeps eyes on the material to be typed 69 % or less of the time. The student does not look at the monitor or keyboard. Always looks at keys.

Student sits upright with feet placed correctly underneath him/her and back against the chair 100-90 % of the time.
Good

Student sits upright with feet placed correctly underneath him/her and back against the chair 89-80 % of the time.
Average

Student sits upright with feet placed correctly underneath him/her and back against the chair 79-70% of the time.
Poor

Student sits slouched with feet crossed 69% of the time or more.
Speed and Accuracy

Excellent

Test result of greater or equal to 15 wpm/1/3E
Good

Test result of 12 wpm/1/3E
Average

Test result of 10 wpm/1/3E
Poor

Test result of 9 wpm/1/3E or less.
