Needs Improvement
Dancer almost never shows proper placement of passe, shoulders, and arms throughout exercise. There is no connection of the passe at all. Arms are used for momentum instead of stabilization and do not reach first position. Shoulders are raised severely.

Dancer rarely shows proper placement of passe, shoulders, and arms throughout exercise. Dancers foot is not placed at knee nor is connected to the standing leg. Arms are used for momentum but reach first position. Shoulders are slightly raised.
Proficient
Dancer mostly shows proper placement of passe, shoulders, and arms throughout exercise. Dancer connects foot to standing leg but falls below knee or is too high above the knee. Arms are held but fall below or slightly above chest level. Shoulders are not raised.
Exemplary
Dancer shows proper placement of passe, shoulders, and arms throughout entire exercise. Connection of passe is made with working leg and stabilizing leg. Arms are used for balance. Shoulders are pressed down and back muscles are engaged. Hips are level and core is engaged.

Core is not engaged, back is arched, hips are not level, and dancer leans forward or backward from the beginning of the turn.

Core is not fully engaged and back is slightly swayed. Dancer falls out of turn towards the end of the turn.
Proficient
Core is engaged and dancer turns on axis. Belly is scooped and back is straight. Hips are slightly uneven. Dancer is able to complete one single turn without falling forwards or backwards.
Exemplary
Hips are level and core is engaged. Dancer has a straight back and scooped belly. Dancer is able to complete multiple turns without falling forward or backward.
Balance/Spotting
Needs Improvement
Dancer is not able to demonstrate the concept of spotting at all. Dancer shows no sense of strength and balance.
Developing
Dancer shows very little attempt to spot and focus. Falls off balance towards end of skill. Heal is barely lifted off of floor and weight shift towards the back of the leg.
Proficient
Dancer is able to execute proper use of spot and focus. Balance is sufficient and dancer shows strength of the supporting leg by reaching almost a full forced arch.
Exemplary
Dancer shows a strong snapping of the head action and has achieved strong balance of the supporting leg by reaching a complete forced arch.

Dancer doesn't perform with any effort and appears to be very unfocused.

Dancer demonstrates exercise with little effort.
Proficient
Dancer appears focused and performs with a good amount of effort.
