Fair Does meet 500 word requirement, poorly written, but time was obviously taken to write the piece. Some spelling and grammar errors. More or less follows the ideas of the author.	Good Meets and exceeds 500 word requirement. Written fluidly, originally and creatively. No spelling or grammar errors. Writes in a style similar to the author.
Expository Essay	Poor Appears incomplete, choppy and redundant. Lacks an effective thesis. 10-15 spelling and grammar errors. Strays away from the argument.	Fair Appears complete but choppy and in some places redundant. Thesis is weak. Some spelling and grammar errors. Strays from argument.	Good Fluid and effective in delivering the argument. Thesis is well constructed and thought out. No spelling and grammar errors. Stays on point.
Visual Element	Poor No visual element included in the project.	Fair An afterthought drawing or other element is used. Lacks relevance to the book.	Good Relevant and effective visual element. Clearly well thought out.
