Completion Number of articles read and number and variety of categories of questions answered meets the requirements of assignment.	Poor Too few articles and/or questions.	Fair/ Good Satisfies the required number of articles and questions.	Excellent Exceeds the number of articles and questions required.
Polish & Presentation Mechanics, organization, and neatness	Poor Sloppy/Unedited. Difficult to read and understand.	Fair/ Good Somewhat neat and organized, with some evidence of editing. A few errors and/or structural issues that do not interfere with understanding.	Excellent Very clean and orderly. No mechanical errors. Easy to read and understand. Professional presentation.
Depth/Variety of Article Choices Articles are of a challenging depth and length to stretch the student. There is a variety of subjects represented in article choices.	Poor Articles are one dimensional and/or short and shallow. They are all about one subject. They do not challenge the student.	Fair/ Good Articles show depth and variety in topic. There is evidence that student did challenge him/herself adequately at times.	Excellent Great depth and variety in articles chosen. Student has gone beyond expectations to ensure a consistent and impressive degree of challenge.
Content Answers indicate a thoughtful and thorough reading process, analysis of articles' message and facts, and a connection to student and/or his/her world.	Poor Answers are overly simplistic. They show no evidence of reading critically or analysis of article content.	Fair/ Good Answers to articles indicate student's attention to detail, critical thought, and attempt to make a connection to content.	Excellent Questions to articles show student was highly attentive to content while reading, thought deeply about the meaning, and made insightful connections to self or world. Exceeds expectations.
