The beat is usually erratic and rhythms are seldom accurate, detracting significantly from the overall performance.

Accurate intonation with correct breath support in all ranges and registers. Pitch adjustments are made instantly.

Mostly accurate intonation and breath support with few intonation problems.

Student sometimes has accurate intonation and breath support.
Developing

Student seldom has accurate intonation and breath support. Pitch adjustment skills are still developing.
Needs Improvement

Student has difficulty maintaining correct intonation and often performs flat or sharp. Breath support is lacking.

Student is mostly able to maintain an independent vocal line.

Student sometimes maintains an independent vocal line.

Student articulates clearly and the text of the music is understandable.
Proficient

Student articulates the words somewhat clearly and the text can be understood most of the time.

Student is sometimes articulating the words, but the text is often not discernable.
Developing

Student rarely articulates the words and the text is not discernable.
Needs Improvement

Student never articulates the correct pronunciation of the text.
