Understanding of Topic Enter description	Strong Student clearly understood the topic and the book in-depth and presented their information forcefully and convincingly.	Good Student clearly undestood the topic and book in-depth and presented their information with ease.	Fair Student seemed to understand the main points of the topic and book and presented those with ease.	Poor Student did not show an adequate understanding of the topic.
Information Enter description	Strong All information presented in the debate was clear, accurate and thorough.	Good Most information presented in the debate was clear, accurate and thorough.	Fair Most information presented in the debate was clear and accurate, but was not usually thorough.	Poor Information had several inaccuracies OR was usually not clear.
Use of Facts/Statistics Enter description	Strong Every major point was well supported with several relevant facts, statistics and/or examples. Cites the book for each supporting point.	Good Every major point was adequately supported with relevant facts, statistics and/or examples. Cites the book for at least one point.	Fair Every major point was supported with facts, statistics and/or examples, but the relevance of some was questionable. The book was rarely cited.	Poor Every point was not supported. The book was not cited.
Refutation- Counter-Argument	Strong All counter-arguments were accurate, relevant and strong.	Good Most counter-arguments were accurate, relevant, and strong.	Fair Most counter-arguments were accurate and relevant, but several were weak.	Poor Counter-arguments were not accurate and/or relevant.

Poor One or more members of the team had a presentation style that did not keep the attention of the audience.
Mechanics	Strong Student reflects evident control of grammar, spelling, and sentence formation. All responses are grammatically correct.	Good Student reflects sufficient control of grammar, spelling, and sentence formation. Few grammatical errors are present in responses.	Fair Project reflects limited control of grammar, spelling, and sentence formation. Confused and inconsistent arrangement of sentences and fragments interferes with understanding.	Poor Project reflects minimal control of grammar, spelling, and sentence formation. Responses are difficult to understand.
