Thesis Statement 40 % Strength of thesis.	Excellent Contains a well-developed thesis that clearly addresses the topic. Makes a claim and justifies this claim with a unifying idea/argument. Unifying idea is not too broad.	Good Makes a claim and justifies this claim. Offers a clear thesis that addresses the topic, but with limited development; for instance, the thesis may lack creativity and complexity.	Average Makes a claim but does not justify the claim.
