DEFINITION	Exceeding Statement of what the topic addresses is precise, clear, and well stated with relevant details and exceptional background information.	Meeting Statement of what the topic addresses is general. Background information is present and supports the topic.	Approaching Statement of what the topic addresses is mostly or completely incorrect, not communicated in an understandable way, or absent from the paragraph.
SUPPORTING DETAILS/IDEAS	Exceeding All important details are included. All details support the main idea. All details help create a clear picture for the reader. Exceptional, explored and explained.	Meeting Most important details are included. Some details may be too minor to include in the summary and/or may not support the main idea. Support is present. Topic may be explored and explained	Approaching Important details are left out of the summary. Many details are too minor to include in the summary and/or do not support the main idea. Inadequate details, reader cannot understand the topic.
ORGANIZATION	Exceeding Main idea sentence is clearly stated. Organization enhances information. Good transitions between facts are consistently present.	Meeting Main idea sentence is fairly clear.
