Content	Poor Student's summary was very short or otherwise did not adequately demonstrate reading comprehension. Analysis was missing or inadequate.	Fair Student adequately summarized and analyzed the editorial.	Excellent Student demonstrated exemplary comprehension and exceptional analysis of the article and of the conventions of editorials.
Comprehension & Responses	Poor I needed to repeat the questions many times. Responses may have been off-topic, or the student may hesitated frequently.	Fair Student understood questions asked the first time and responded adequately and fluidly.	Excellent Student had no difficulty understanding and responding fluidly with no hesitations.
Clarity	Poor Sentences were awkward and difficult to understand at times. Student made many grammatical errors.	Fair Sentences were clear and comprehensible with few errors.	Excellent Sentences were clear, comprehensible, and natural. Student made no grammatical errors.
Pronunciation	Poor Student's pronunciation was incomprehensible or made understanding very difficult.	Fair Student's pronunciation was mostly accurate and comprehensible. Student pronounced all final "s" and final "ed" sounds correctly.	Excellent Student's pronunciation was like a native speaker's.
