Writing Conventions Enter criteria description	Excellent The student has spelled 3rd grade words correctly and have written in complete sentences. The subjects and verbs agree. Capital's and periods are used! Indented paragraphs	Good The student has spelled most 3rd grade words correctly and have written in mostly complete sentences. Most of the time the subject and verb agree. Capital's and periods are mostly used. Indented paragraphs mostly.	Poor The student has made many spelling errors. The sentences are incomplete and the subjects and verbs don't agree. Capital's and periods are not used as they should be! No indentation for the paragraphs.
Paragraphs Enter criteria description	Excellent The student has written in an organized fashion using paragraph's. 4 Paragraphs	Good The student has written in a somewhat organized fashion. The paragraphs may or may not be indented or defined and may or may not make sense. 4 paragraphs.	Poor The student has not written using any organization. No paragraphs have been used. Fewer than 4 paragraphs.
Ideas and Content Enter criteria description	Excellent Student stays focused on topic.	Good Student stays mostly on the topic, may have a few items that are not related to the topic.	Poor Student does not have one focused topic. Many items in the writing are unrelated.
Style	Excellent Student uses great words that add interest and make it readable.	Good Student uses some good words that add interest and make it somewhat readable.	Poor Student does not use good words. The writing is difficult to read and does not flow.
