Class Behavioral Expectations 
The purpose of this rubric is to describe appropriate classroom behaviors and enable students to understand that the same behaviors are expected in the workplace enviornment.

Absent 2X or less with EXCUSED absence per 9 weeks. Makes up missed assignments. Tardy 2X or less to class.

Absent 3 - 4X with EXCUSED absence or ANY UNEXCUSED absences. Makeup work not turned in. Tardy 3X or more to class.
Homework

Exemplary

All homework assignments are completed on time and show that the student completed them to the best of his/her ability.
Acceptable

Completes all but 1 or 2 homework assignments, but does make an attempt to complete assignment.
Homework is submitted on time and is completed to the best of his/her ability.
Unacceptable

Homework is not completed when due, homework is not completed more than 2x, does not bring homework to class, homework is incomplete or of poor quality.
Class/lab participation

Exemplary

Student contributes to all class discussions, gives meaningful feedback, stays on task, pays attention in class.
LAB: student completes assigned task - works well with others.
Acceptable

Student contributes to most class discussions, gives meaningful feedback, stays on task, pays attention in class.
LAB: student completes most of task assigned w/o assistance - works well with others.
Unacceptable

Student does not contribute to class discussions, does not give meaningful feedback, sleeps in class or focuses on activities unrelated to class.
LAB: student is off-task, not interested in working with assignment / other students.
Attitude About Learning

Exemplary

Student has clear reasons for taking the class for self-improvement, with an awareness of own needs; participates in all activities to the best of his/her ability in the classroom / lab.
Acceptable

Student may question certain activities searching for clarity, student participates in activities after initial discussion to the best of their abilities in the classroom / lab.
Unacceptable

Student complains about class/lab activities, homework, etc., student challenges instructor about the need for activities, journals, homework, lab etc.
Respectfulness

Exemplary

Student is polite and respectful to classmates and instructor, does not interrupt when others are talking, uses appropriate language, does not damage materials, classroom, or lab.
Acceptable

Listens while others are talking, attends to class activities, uses appropriate language, does not damage materials, classroom, or furnishings.
Unacceptable

Student is distracting to others, ignores instructor, uses inappropriate language and/or behaviors such as: harassment, ridicule, racism/sexism, interrupts others, threatens others, destoys property.
Preperation

Exemplary

Student is prepared for class w/all materials needed.
Mock Interview: Student is prepared for interview and is dressed in a professional manner.
Acceptable

Student is somewhat prepared for most of the class.
Mock Interview: student is not dressed upon entering class w/materials needed.
Unacceptable

Student is unprepared for class and does not have professional clothes for lab.
Language

Exemplary

Uses appropriate language in all circumstances.
Acceptable

Student has been repriminded occasionally for the use of crude or inappropriate language.
Unacceptable

Student is frequently repriminaded for the use of crude or inappropriate language.
Constructive Criticism

Exemplary

Student is able to accept constructive criticism appropriately and with respect.
Acceptable

Student is hesitant to accept constructive criticism from instructor and/or peers.
Unacceptable

Student does not know how to appropriately accept constructive criticism and often argues with instructor.
Safety/ Clean

Exemplary

Student keeps an organized work enviornment and cleans up after himself/herself when they are participating in off campus activities such as fieldtrips.
Acceptable

Student occasionaly leaves trash and/or paper on or around work area. Student occassionally has to be asked and reminded to clean up after themselves when they are on involved in on campus events.
Unacceptable

Student has frequently been reprimanded for leaving trash and/or paper both in classroom and during off campus events.
