	Proficient 4 pts	Basic 3 pts	Emerging 2 pts	Developing 1 pts
Complete Sentences	Proficient Student is able to create complete, grammatically corrrect sentences that make sense in term of word order and tenses. Coherent thought throughout written response or paragraph.	Basic Student is able to complete sentences but is lacking details and requires support to develop additional sentences.	Emerging Student is lacking in the ability to consistently write sentences with all the necessary components. Student requires sentence starters.	Developing Sentences are not sentences more often than not.
Sentence Variety	Proficient In addition to basic, student uses details to support presentation of ideas/comments and creates colour in their use of language.	Basic Can see clear variety of length and language that makes sense to the reader. Adjectives are used and synonyms occur to avoid repetition.	Emerging Can see an awkward attempt at varying sentence length and structure.	Developing Very simple sentence without feeling or description.
Grammar
