Response Quality 40 %	Advanced Responses are fully developed and strongly on-topic. Student includes personal opinions, thoughts and feelings in the response	Thorough Responses are well developed and remain on-topic for the most part.	Acceptable Responses are somewhat developed and remain on-topic some of the time.	Partial Responses are underdeveloped and do not remain on-topic.
Connections 20 %	Advanced Student attempts to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection at least 3 out of 4 times.	Thorough Student attempts to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection at least 2 out of 4 times.	Acceptable Student attempts to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection at least 1 out of 4 times.	Partial Student makes no attempts to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection.
Features 20 %	Advanced Student has made an excellent attempt to reflect on characters, themes, or issues/morals of the text.	Thorough Student has made a good attempt to reflect on characters, themes, or issues/morals of the text.
